LGC LADIES BEAT THE HEATWAVE AND ENJOY EXCELLENT LADY CAPTAIN’S DAY.
The heatwave was predicted to reach record highs last Thursday when Lady Captain, Chris King, staged the annual Lady Captain’s Day Event at Littlehampton Golf Club. With temperatures expected to reach the low thirties coupled with only a light breeze, the organizers were worried about possible health implications for the large group of members taking part. As a precaution the competition was reduced from 18 to 10 holes and, thankfully, the welcome breeze was just enough to cool down the players.
The golfers were drawn into teams of three, with the best two stableford scores on each hole counting towards the team total. The winners, Susie de la Casas, Sheena Drake and Jean Humphreys, walked away with impressive champagne flutes for their score of 49 points. Edging into second place with 46 points were Nikki Greenwood, Judy Elphick and Doreen Johnstone.
Following the competition, all players gathered in the Clubhouse to enjoy a fabulous tea including Pimms and strawberries and cream.
A truly memorable day for all those who attended, not just the players but several guests including former members and Club officials.
